Valentine's Day Festivities!

January 28, 2019

Dear Room 27,

On Thursday, February 14th we will be having our Valentine’s Day Class Party. Our party will take place from 11:30am.-1:00pm. Students will eat lunch and read their “Love Poem” to everyone at the party. It is also a school-wide spirit day. Students are encouraged to wear read, pink, purple and/or white.

After the party, before the end of the day, students will be allowed to pass out their Valentine’s Day Cards. Bringing in valentines for the class is optional. If students do choose to bring in valentines, please make sure there are enough for EVERY student.  We have 28 students in our class. It is best if the valentines are not addressed to individual students which allows students to pass them out quickly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Student-Led Spring Conferences

Student-Led Spring Conferences will take place from Wednesday, March 6th- Wednesday March 13th, 2019.

Spring Conferences are optional but highly encouraged. Students will lead their own conference and the transition to junior high will be discussed.

Please sign-up for one slot. Students WILL NEED to attend their conference. Please sign-up for a time where both parent and student can be present.

Passion Projects are COMING!

Sixth Grade Passion Project

Dear Parents,

A Passion Project is an opportunity for students to take ownership of their own learning. This project is intended to spark curiosity and encourage life-long learning, imagination, perseverance, self-awareness and adaptability. It’s also intended to provide a sense of purpose for learning.

Each week students will participate in “Genius Hour” or an hour of class time devoted to their Passion Project. Students will generate questions, plan, research, write, develop a product, reflect and ultimately, present their project to the class and community.

Parents are encouraged to provide guidance and support.

Passion Projects will be due in April. The project will be formally assigned during the end of January where more information will go home.

                                                                        Thank you,                                                                                                                                                      Sixth Grade Teachers
